1. Role Overview

Lead the end-to-end anti-fraud operations for PalmPay's device installment business in Nigeria. Build and manage a multi-functional team covering phone investigation, field verification, intelligence monitoring, and data analytics & quality assurance. Establish and operate a full-cycle anti-fraud closed loop: alert generation → investigation → fraud determination → channel enforcement → post-case review.

2. Key Responsibilities

2.1 Team Leadership

Build, lead, and develop the local anti-fraud team across multiple functional areas. Responsible for recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and day-to-day task allocation. Foster a high-performance culture focused on investigation quality, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.

2.2 Anti-Fraud Operations

  • Oversee the full investigation workflow for suspected fraud cases, ensuring P0–P3 tiered cases are handled per SOP with appropriate urgency.
  • Review and sign off on fraud determination conclusions (F0–F4 severity grading), accountable for determination accuracy.
  • Maintain the case ledger and track core operational KPIs including fraud detection rate, investigation coverage ratio, and case closure cycle time.
  • Conduct weekly case reviews to identify investigation blind spots and refine investigation strategies.

2.3 Channel Risk Management

  • Establish and enforce a channel (Agent/Dealer) violation penalty framework, driving remediation, restriction, or termination of high-risk channels.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to embed anti-fraud requirements into channel onboarding and ongoing management.
  • Produce periodic high-risk merchant/Agent profiles and build a channel risk scoring system.

2.4 Intelligence & Early Warning

  • Guide the intelligence monitoring team in application data analysis and social media sentiment surveillance.
  • Conduct rapid-response analysis on emerging fraud patterns (e.g., NIN forgery, face-swap attacks, Agent multi-accounting).
  • Support HQ data teams in cross-market intelligence benchmarking and fraud pattern sharing.

2.5 Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting

  • Maintain close collaboration with sales, collections, and credit review teams to ensure anti-fraud measures are effectively implemented on the business side.
  • Submit weekly anti-fraud operations reports (in English) to HQ; escalate material cases in real time.
  • Participate in bi-weekly global anti-fraud benchmarking and intelligence-sharing sessions.

3. Requirements

Essential

  • Nigerian national or holder of a valid work permit.
  • Bachelor's degree or above; Finance, Economics, Law, Criminal Investigation, or related fields preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in anti-fraud, risk management, compliance, or internal audit within the financial services or telecommunications industry.
  • Proven team management experience, having led teams of 10+ members.
  • Strong familiarity with the business environment and security landscape in Northern Nigeria (Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, etc.).
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), with the ability to independently produce analytical reports in English.
  • Proficient in Excel with foundational data analysis capabilities.
  • Willing to be based in Lagos and occasionally travel to Kano, Abuja, and other locations.

Preferred

  • Experience in device installment, consumer lending, or BNPL.
  • Familiarity with PalmPay products or the Nigerian mobile payments ecosystem.
  • Hands-on experience with anti-fraud systems or rule engines.
  • Professional certifications such as CAMS, CFE, or equivalent.

4. Reporting Lines

Reports directly to the Head of Global Anti-Fraud Operations, with a dotted-line report to the PalmPay Nigeria Country Head.
